A supporter of President Barrack Obama Andy F Says . I supported him twice & would do so again, but I never "trusted" him.
Why not? I'm an old guy, lived through the presidencies of Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Gerald Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush I, Clinton and Bush II.
All of these presidents except for Ford, maybe, told bald-faced lies to the voters at times. Most of them followed foreign policies that were criminal, or stupid, or both. All of them faced a job with almost impossible demands, where they had to balance 1 goal against another and sell out 1 interest group (or more) to placate another.
That means all of them, except for Ford, who I don't think was a very good president, were untrustworthy to some degree. They probably HAD to be somewhat dishonest to get anything done at all, given how difficult US politics can be.
When I gave money to Obama and supported him in 2008, I thought I'd be disappointed with something he did within 6 months of his being elected. And yep -- this was true. I still supported him as WAY better than the GOP alternative -- and still do -- but I don't trust any U.S. president anymore, though I like some better than others.
